There is Power in Absurdity

Absurdity, when it comes to personal branding, allows you to be as over-the-top, campy, tacky, or colourful as you please (can you guess why I’m intrigued?).

Think of classic rockers or today’s pop stars: their onstage wardrobes, home decor, and personal tastes. Many people mistakenly believe that money is the factor that allows celebrities to embrace absurdity - it’s not; we all know there is no shortage of tasteful, expensive things to surround yourself with. What is the factor is the confidence and freedom to not be bound by the aesthetic rules of polite society.

The future fans who see you will “get” what you’re all about immediately. More lukewarm audiences may underestimate you, but that’s their mistake. Letting yourself to be live your best, most absurd life is not a gimmick to hide your lack of talent or skill. It’s embracing the confidence in who you are and what you love. It’s a form of stepping into your power.
